Barbara Hooks, PsyD

Licensed Clinical Psychologist, PSY28749

Barbara Hooks is a licensed clinical psychologist. At HeartWork Psychology®, she conducts psychological assessments with individuals across the life span to answer a wide range of referral questions.  In addition, she provides individual psychotherapy to adolescent and adult clients struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, life transitions, stress, and issues related to gender identity, amongst other presenting concerns. Her approach is collaborative, culturally-sensitive, and grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Her main aim is to help clients get in touch with what matters most and help them actively build lives that are personally meaningful. Dr. Hooks’ dissertation research focused on affirmative care working with trans* identified individuals.

Dr. Hooks completed her APA-Accredited postdoctoral fellowship at Kaiser Permanente San Rafael and her APA-accredited internship at Sharp HealthCare in San Diego. She has extensive experience working in medical settings across different levels of care (inpatient, PHP, outpatient) as well as in community mental health. She earned her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from The Wright Institute and her bachelor's degree from The University of California at Berkeley. She spends her free time exploring meditation, soaking up nature, and spending time with her family.

 

Katherine Plambeck, PsyD

Licensed Clinical Psychologist, PSY29389 (California) and 3813 (Oregon)

Dr. Katherine Plambeck is a licensed clinical psychologist. Dr. Plambeck provides individual psychotherapy for adolescents and adults, and uses evidence-based and mindfulness approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She specializes in treatment of problematic anger, mood disorders, grief and loss, anxiety, behavioral medicine, insomnia, and coping with chronic health conditions. At HeartWork Psychology®, Dr. Plambeck also conducts psychological assessments for children and adults in order to obtain diagnostic clarity and develop treatment recommendations. She is passionate about providing personalized care to help empower her clients and their families to find richness and vitality in their lives.

Dr. Plambeck earned her undergraduate degree in psychobiology from University of California at Davis with minors in Spanish and Chicano/a Studies. Subsequently, she earned her Psy.D. in clinical psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley. She has extensive experience in forensic settings, medical clinics, and conducted court-ordered evaluations. Dr. Plambeck completed her APA-accredited internship with Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. Dr. Plambeck grew up in the Bay Area and loves spending time outdoors, reading, and traveling.

 

Britni Snow, Psy.D

Dr. Britni Snow provides individual therapy to adults and adolescents using an integrative approach including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), relational psychodynamic theory, and compassion-focused interventions. Dr. Snow strives to understand each individual’s unique constellation of experiences and identities, and tailors therapy sessions to fit each person’s specific needs. She strives to create a safe, collaborative, and open environment for her clients to cultivate psychological flexibility, build self-acceptance, and lead more fulfilling lives. Her specialties include treating anxiety, depression, college mental health, disordered eating, identity development, relational difficulties, trauma-related concerns, and family-of-origin issues.

Dr. Snow has received specialized training in providing Couples Therapy and enjoys working with couples to address ongoing patterns of difficulty in their relationship and collaboratively move towards new ways of relating. In addition, Dr. Snow also conducts psychological assessments with adolescents and adults, thoughtfully selecting measures that will best provide information and inform clear diagnostic recommendations.

Dr. Snow earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota, followed by master's and doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. Originally from Minnesota, she spent several years living in San Francisco and one year living in Bozeman, Montana where she completed her doctoral internship at the University of Montana. Dr. Snow enjoys spending time with her two dogs, exploring new hobbies, and basking under the sun whenever possible.
